Ground has officially been broken at Ken Sargent House, marking the first step in the construction of this 21-suite residence located near the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.
Nearly ten years after the vision first took shape, we are proud to share that construction has officially begun on your future Ken Sargent House.
This 21-suite residence, located just south of the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, will offer patients and their loved ones a welcoming place to stay close to care during what can be an incredibly challenging time. By easing the worry of finding accommodations, your Ken Sargent House will help families focus on what matters most: being together.

We are honoured to be leading the fundraising efforts for this important project and are deeply grateful for the generosity of our community partners. Significant support has included a $4 million gift from the Rotary Wellness Centre Society toward construction, as well as the donation of the land from Northwestern Polytechnic, both instrumental in bringing this vision to life.
Much of the momentum behind Ken Sargent House is also thanks to the longstanding commitment of Ken Sargent himself. In November 2023, he made a meaningful contribution toward future operating costs, helping to ensure the house can continue to serve families for many years to come.
While there is great excitement to see construction underway, we know the wait will be worth it. Research and experience continue to show that patients heal better when surrounded by the care and comfort of loved ones, and your future Ken Sargent House will make that possible.
Construction is expected to take just over a year, with the doors of Ken Sargent House opening in early winter 2026.
